A long trestle table down a walled garden at dusk under festoon bulbs, the groom standing halfway along to pour somebody a glass
A bride seen from behind on the lawn at dusk, her bouquet in the air and a knot of guests reaching up for it
A packed barn dance floor late at night, flash-lit and smeared by the slow shutter, the bride barefoot in the middle of it
A bride and groom cutting the cake together under a burning sparkler, guests crowded in around them with their phones up
Wedding guests the morning after around a breakfast table on a sunny stone terrace, with coffee, croissants and orange juice, everyone laughing
Guests holding lit sparklers up in two lines outside the barn, their faces lit from below by the sparks

Capsule is a private film for your wedding or party. Guests join from a QR code (nothing to download), take their shots, and the film opens when the night is over.

How it works

How a night becomes a film.

Guests join from a QR. Full photos stay sealed until the reveal by default. Then everyone can return to the shared film.

nobody has to learn anything.

  1. 01 Create a film

Name it, pick when it seals and develops. Two minutes.

The Capsule app: a screen headed “What are we filming?”, with Wedding selected and Birthday, Trip, Party, Reunion and Baby shower as the other options.
  2. 02 Invite your people

One link or QR. Join in your browser without registering.

What a guest gets: sparklers in a dark garden, the words “Elena & Marco’s Wedding”, a line reading “Unseals in 5d 9h · 24 shots for you”, and a button that says “Grab your camera”.
  3. 03 Capture together

A handful of shots, sealed by default.

The guest camera running in a browser: a flash-lit frame of two people dancing, a shutter button, a dial reading seventeen shots left, and a line reading “your shots develop when the seal breaks”.
  4. 04 The film develops

At the time you set, everyone gets the roll.

A developed film: “Elena & Marco’s Wedding” over a photograph of the couple, counters reading 214 moments and 23 guests, and a grid of photographs each signed with the guest who took it.

Where the films go

Same rule every time.
Completely different nights.

A wedding, a family birthday, a company night. One film for the people you invited, with full photos sealed until the reveal by default.

Weddings

The photographer got the ceremony. Your friends got the rest.

A photographer leaves at eleven. The dance floor at one in the morning, the kitchen, the smoking corner, the speech nobody planned: those only exist on your guests’ cameras. Capsule collects them into one roll instead of forty camera rolls you will never see.

24 shots each with the wedding roll option

Birthdays

Twelve shots each. Suddenly everyone is a photographer.

A limit makes people think before they shoot. You get one good photograph of the cake instead of nine identical ones, and the person holding the camera is actually at the party.

12 shots per guest, the house default

Trips

Seal it on the way out. Develop it on the way home.

Nobody edits a photo on day two. Nobody posts from the car. The whole trip arrives at once when you are back and missing it, which is exactly when you want it.

14 nights as long as a film can run

Three more

Family, work, and everything else.

Reunions where nobody looks up. Launch parties nobody live-tweets. A going-away party, a supper club, a Sunday that went long. Same film, same rule.

Questions

What people ask
before the party.

The six that come up every time — including the one about consent, which we would rather answer out loud than bury.

Read the help center Fifteen more answers — hosting, shooting, and privacy.
Do my guests need the app?

No. They tap the link, the camera opens in their browser, and they shoot. No download, no sign-up, no password. That is the whole reason people actually use it.

Why can’t anyone see the photos during the party?

Photos stay sealed until the reveal by default. Hosts can allow guests to see their own photos or enable a host preview.

What does a guest see while the film is sealed?

Guests see their remaining shot count and a small locked preview. In the film, they can see who took each photo, when it was taken and any caption. Full photos stay sealed unless the host has allowed guests to view their own shots.

How many shots should I give people?

Twelve for a party, twenty-four for a wedding, thirty-six for a weekend. More than that and the limit stops meaning anything.

When does the film develop?

At the reveal time the host chooses. The following morning is one option, so everyone can return to the whole night together.

What happens to photos of people who did not consent?

Anyone in a film can ask for a frame to be pulled, before or after it develops, and it goes. Write to privacy@trycapsule.app with the film name.
